About me
I paint straw hats.
Light passes through the weave and falls on the face beneath it. It doesn’t illuminate the face — it redraws it.
What appears is not the face someone shows the world, but the one that exists before they decide.
I found this by accident, in a single painting. I have been working on it ever since.
The series is called in(visible). It is made in tempera, at scale, because the effect only holds when the weave can be rendered thread by thread.
